INTERNATIONAL BEST RESEARCHER AWARD on Mechanical engineering
Hajime Shiraishi received a Ph.D. (1996) in engineering from Fukuoka University. Currently, He is a professor at Kurume University of Technology. In the past, he developed hydraulic servo valves and their controllers at a company, and also automated wastewater treatment plants using fuzzy control and GA. He has also applied the control technology used in these projects to the development of various equipment in the industry. At the university, he is conducting research on devices for extending healthy life expectancy. These devices do not use motors or other actuators to amplify human power, as is often the case in society, but rather use methods that allow people to work with their inherent power as efficiently as possible.
