Merina Khwairakpam is from Manipur in North East India. She grew up in a humble family, with a cultivator father and a homemaker mother who worked hard to educate their four children. Inspired by their values, Merina learned the importance of hard work, independence, and family support from a young age. She completed her B Sc from CAU, Imphal, receiving the Ishan Uday Scholarship for her academic performance. She then earned her M Sc from PJTSAU, Hyderabad, where she was awarded the ICAR PG Scholarship. Merina has also qualified both the UGC NET and ASRB NET exams. She is currently pursuing her PhD at DRPCAU, Pusa, receiving the UGC NFSC Scholarship and hopes to contribute meaningfully to agricultural research and her community.
