INTERNATIONAL BEST RESEARCHER AWARD; Research on Groundwater using Hydrological model, Remote Sensing & GIS
Zakir is a defence officer, civil Engineer and as well as Earth scientist. With 23 years of vast experience, he possesses extensive knowledge and skill in implementation of geo-spatial data, digital image processing, surveying, project management, operational activities, security management under conflicting environment and geographic area in home and abroad. He has served as administrative officer, logistic officer, operational officer and commander at Bangladesh Army; as project manager in different organization; deputy director & In-charge GIS, Photogrammetry & Cartography department in Survey of Bangladesh; and currently as additional director at Border Guard Bangladesh. He also worked in United Nations in UNMIS, MONUSCO and UNMISS during 2008/2009, 2015 and 2020/2021 respectively. He has been closely involved in civil engineering tasks including surveying, terrain analysis, construction and rehabilitation of road in very unpredictable security situation, conflict areas and challenging environment. He has also experienced with collect and store GIS data; prepare, develop and maintain GIS database; process, analyze and display images including spatial analysis and fact findings using ENVI and ERDAS IMAGINE. He has also contributed in post disaster mapping, land slide, flood rescue operation and flood management activities, and production of strip map along the international boundary.
