INTERNATIONAL OUTSTANDING RESEARCHER AWARD
I’m Hitesh Allam, a Senior Software Engineer with over nine years of experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting enterprise-level applications across diverse environments. With a strong foundation in both backend and frontend technologies, my expertise lies in Java Full Stack Development, AWS cloud services, DevOps automation, Splunk administration, and systems engineering. I hold a Master’s in Information Technology Administration and Assurance from Missouri Western State University and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from JNTU in India. Currently, I serve as an SRE Engineer on the Point of Sale (POS) team at Verizon, where I’m responsible for the development, migration, and ongoing support of backend services. My day-to-day includes writing and optimizing complex SQL queries, managing Splunk logging and dashboard setups, handling automation with Ansible, Jenkins, and Docker, and ensuring application stability through server patching and proactive monitoring. I’ve been deeply involved in migrating legacy C-based systems to modern Java-based solutions, managing AWS environments, and streamlining operations using CI/CD pipelines. I also manage the full lifecycle of SSL certificates, IAM user roles, and incident response—contributing significantly to both application security and operational resilience. Prior to Verizon, I worked with Arris on a range of development tasks including microservices using Spring Boot, Dockerized deployments, and setting up analytics with PIWIK. I also led a proof-of-concept project that streamlined email distribution for internal team communications using Angular and Node.js. My role included extensive use of Jenkins, PostgreSQL, ArangoDB, and front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and Angular to create responsive and dynamic user interfaces. I’ve also contributed as a UI Developer for First Command Financial Services, where I helped refactor their customer-facing portal using JavaScript, JQuery, Struts, and XML/XSLT. Before coming to the U.S., I worked at Genpact in India, where I played a crucial role in developing Java applications using EJB, Dojo, and Oracle. There, I handled both frontend and backend development, wrote complex PL/SQL logic, and helped improve overall performance and stability through analysis and bug fixing. In addition to hands-on experience, I have been highly active in system and application monitoring using Splunk. I’ve completed the Splunk Fundamentals 1 certification and am currently pursuing further specialization with levels 2, 3, and advanced search. I manage everything from forwarder deployment and cluster configurations to writing regex-based field extractions, managing indexers, and automating Splunk upgrades and deployments across AWS environments. Throughout my journey, I’ve developed a strong command over tools and platforms such as Apache Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kafka, RabbitMQ, and a broad spectrum of SQL and NoSQL databases. My development toolkit includes technologies like Spring Boot, Hibernate, JHipster, Angular, React, and RESTful services, supported by CI/CD tools like Bamboo and Bitbucket. I’ve worked extensively with shell scripting, Python, Perl, and automation frameworks to streamline application monitoring, backup solutions, and deployment strategies. What drives me is a relentless focus on building systems that are not only robust and scalable but also secure and easy to maintain. I take pride in being able to operate across the full software lifecycle—from architecture and design through deployment, monitoring, and support. I thrive in high-pressure environments, juggling multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and a strong commitment to best practices. Above all, I value collaboration, continuous learning, and delivering real-world results. My experience across diverse roles and industries has taught me the importance of adaptability, and I remain committed to staying current with emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies to ensure that I continue adding meaningful value to every project I’m a part of.
