Dr. Ramala Sarma, M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., PGDDE, is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Nowgong College (Autonomous). She earned her Ph.D. in the nature of Universals (Indian and Western) from Gauhati University, Guwahati, supported by a Junior Research Fellowship from the Indian Council of Philosophical Research, New Delhi. Dr. Sarma has presented her research at numerous professional seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally. Her scholarly contributions have been published in reputed refereed journals, reflecting her expertise and dedication to philosophical inquiry. She conducted a significant UGC-Minor Research Project on the Buddhist practices of the Tai communities of Assam. Dr. Sarma’s innovative design work on the material culture of Tai Buddhists was recognized by the Patent Office, Kolkata, Government of India in 2020. Her Assam Amulet, which delineates a line of handcrafted bell metal objects imbued with Buddhist symbolism, got copyright registration certificate from the Copyright Office, Government of India in 2024. She received the Bharat Shiksha Ratan Award in April 2019 from the Global Society for Health & Educational Growth, Delhi, and International Research Star Award in June, 2024 from ISSN International Research Awards Congress, Tamil Nadu, in recognition of her academic excellence and contributions.
