I am Dr. V. Lakshmanakumar, a Siddha physician, academician, and researcher with expertise in forensic medicine, toxicology, and traditional food science. I hold a BSMS from Government Siddha Medical College, Chennai, and an MD (Siddha) from the National Institute of Siddha, where I built a strong foundation in classical texts and evidence-based practice. Currently, I serve as Medical Officer in the Department of Siddha at AIIMS Raipur. My professional experience spans clinical care, teaching, and interdisciplinary research. I have served as Associate Professor at Sri Sairam Siddha Medical College and as Assistant Registrar (Siddha) at CCIM, New Delhi, contributing to academic reforms and postgraduate education. As an empanelled AYUSH Assessor (NABH) and Consultant Expert (NCISM), I actively contribute to quality assurance and curriculum development in Siddha education. My recent research, “Indigenous Foods of Tamil Nadu – A Narrative Review of Its Nutritive Value and Mineral Bioavailability,” explores the scientific relevance of traditional foods in promoting health and improving mineral absorption. This work was recognized with the International Research Star Award. I remain committed to advancing Siddha medicine through research, academic leadership, and the integration of indigenous knowledge into modern healthcare systems.
