Doctor of Philosophy for the thesis entitled “Effect of Yogic Practice and Nutrition on Growth Pattern during Adolescence Period.”

Dr. Debjani Mandal was born in Calcutta, India in 1988. Her father being a school teacher, she always dreamt of making a career as a dedicated Professor. From the early school days she was studious and diligent. She received B.Sc degree in Food & Nutrition from University of Calcutta in 2009 and secured “First class First” rank in M.Sc. from West Bengal State University in 2011.In 2012, she joined the Department of Food & Nutrition, Raidighi College, as a guest Lecturer, and in 2014, she joined Sarojini Naidu College for Women, under University of Calcutta. Since 2015, she has been appointed as Head of the Department of Food & Nutrition till 2017, and became an SACT in 2020. She has been appointed as question paper setter, head examiner, reviewer, scrutiniser and examiner for B. SC Hons. & General Examination, 2015-2019, and for CBCS B. SC. Programme Semester Examination – 2020 & 2021 of West Bengal State University for the subject: Food and Nutrition. Her current research interests include Yogasana and its effects on adolescent growth. She has been awarded the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Science) in the Dept. of Physiology of West Bengal State University on 23rd April 2021 for the thesis entitled “Effect of Yogic Practice and Nutrition on Growth Pattern during Adolescence Period”. She has published papers in national and international journals enlisted in UGC approved list. She has been qualified in NET 2013. Her journey of becoming a professor was never so easy but she fought against all odds to conquer her goal. In this process, she acknowledged her parents, who continuously gave her mental support. She never forgot to thank the Almighty for being kind enough. Last but not the least, she mentioned about her PhD guide Dr. Pratiti Ghosh and Mentor Dr. Uday Sankar Ray numerous times.
